It’s surprising that there hasn’t been more hype with regards to Tron Legacy, due out later this year: the sequel to 1981′s Tron was bound to have a lot of geeks, nerds and miscellaneous techies salivating with its return to the cyber-world, but it’s bound to get a bit more mainstream attention now with Jeff Bridges winning this year’s Academy Award for Best Actor.
Bridges returns as Kevin Flynn, now trapped in the computer world which looks far-more-impressive-than-ever-before: his adult son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) sets out to find his absentee father and is led towards an entry to the on-line world by his father’s friend and former colleague Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner.) The film also stars House‘s Olivia Wilde, Michael (“I’m-from-Wales-and-not-related-to-the-other-Sheens) Sheen and John Hurt.
Check the trailer below, and join in the discussion: after all, resurrecting films that are nearly thirty years old can’t always be successful, but if this works, who’s to say we won’t see some more sequels coming out in the near-future.
Tron Legacy is due for release in December 2010.

When I first heard of the film I wasn’t too interested as I never really cared for Tron but each bit of footage rapidly pushes it higher on my “must see” list. Plus the soundtrack is by Daft Punk which of course means it’ll be awesome.
The ARGs around Tron Legacy have been interesting at least. Still can’t wait for the movie.
